As a student I have a lot of experience with Microsoft Word. I have written dozens of paper. In middle school I was required to take a computers class that taught me how to format and add design elements to my documents. I have obviously seen teachers use Word in a multitude of ways. They use it for class syllabuses, assignment sheets, grading record and rubies, etc.

I do not know much about copyright laws, but I have written several research papers. For the research papers I have had to quote and therefore cite multiple academic articles, so that I would not commit plagiarism. I think that this could fall under fair use of materials. Fair use is a set of flexible rules/policies. I think in terms of being a teacher you have to make sure every video/audio content or document that you did not create must be approved for reproduction and for use in the classroom.

One issue mentioned in the textbook is parental control. I don't think this will be an issue in a school though because all of the computers have firewall programs that determine if content is appropriate or not. Another issue mention was privacy, as of right now my plan is to teach elementary school, so I do not anticipate personal technological privacy being an issue. But, if it was I would advise the administration because I believe there is a statement in the handbook that states that the school has rights to search students when they are on school property.
